Story Telling for Preachers and Teachers

Monday, October 21st

Sign up for either the Morning or Afternoon Session
9:00 - Noon
1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

What stories will you be sharing in Advent and Christmas? What story will your people take away with them? Learn how to make your storytelling fresh, compelling and memorable – in a fun and encouraging setting.

Each participant will have the option of sharing their five minute story (no notes just tell your story) and receive feedback, encouragement and guidance. Help your story go from interesting to engaging and inspiring.

The workshop is led by Patti Wheeler and Pr. Paul Walters. Patti Wheeler is an accomplished storyteller and the producer for the Detroit and Ann Arbor Moth Story Slam events as heard on NPR. Learn more about her here: www.patriciawheeler.com. Paul Walters has been preaching for over two decades and is a Moth Story Slam winner.

Each workshop is limited to fifteen (15) participants. Sign up early before the spots fill. You may choose either the morning (9:00 – Noon) or afternoon session (1:00 – 4:00).

Choose your theme and tell your story:

Hope springs eternal! Really? Tell a personal story in your next holy season about hoping beyond hope for a grade, a gift, a date, a dream, a job, a child, or a new beginning.

Wonder and Anticipation. Prepare a story about the role of wonder and anticipation in your community. Is there any? Or has Google diminished wonder, and instant gratification denied anticipation! What story do you have that can rekindle one or the other – or both?!

Cost is $75 before October 1 and $100 after. Register for either the morning or afternoon session.

Location: Edgewood United Church, 469 North Hagadorn, East Lansing.
